Our Trustees

The Board of Trustees of the Susan L. Curtis Charitable Foundation is an active and vital part of our organization. This dedicated group of volunteers work tirelessly on behalf of the Foundation and the children we serve.

    Our Staff

    Executive Director

    Kathryn joined the Susan L. Curtis Foundation in 2019. Kathryn has particular expertise in nonprofit strategic planning and capacity building from her past work as a Consultant at TCC Group. Most recently, Kathryn was a Program Officer with the Maine Health Access Foundation, where she developed a deep understanding of the impact that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) have on youth development. Her diverse background includes program design, management, and evaluation of a multi-year grant program focused on expanding access to addiction treatment and recovery support; and service in the Peace Corps as a Rural Community Development Volunteer.
    Kathryn is particularly passionate about the Susan L. Curtis Foundation’s critical role in helping mitigate the impact of ACES by developing youth resilience through supportive, trusting relationships. She is a strong advocate for collaboration as a necessary step toward solving any social sector issue and brings substantial experience in developing strategic partnerships to maximize mission impact.
    Kathryn earned a B.A. at Fordham University and a Masters in Public Administration at the University of Pennsylvania. A Maine native, Kathryn lives with her husband in Portland and enjoys exploring the city, playing tennis, reading, and traveling.

    Camp Director

    Terri joined the Camp Susan Curtis team in June of 2010 after a long career with the YMCA in Boston, Providence, and Alabama. Raised in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of New York, Terri has always had a love and appreciation of the outdoors and an interest in passing it on to economically disadvantaged youth and families. Terri has a Bachelor of Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University and began her career as a Cabin Counselor and Ropes Course Manager at Camp Hazen YMCA during her college years. As a Senior Program Director and Camp Director with several YMCAs, she has been able to incorporate intentional curriculum, collaborative behavior management, and experiential learning for thousands of campers and their families. Terri is active in the American Camp Association as a Lead Visitor and conference presenter and serves on the Board for Maine Summer Camps. She and her husband, Jay, live in Naples with their rescued pets-shepherd mix Theo, Tasha the Cat, and Mr. T the Gulf Coast Box Turtle. They are halfway through a personal lifetime mission to explore all the National Parks by camping and backpacking through them.

    Director of Grants & Special Events

    A member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Lori has more than 30 years of business and development experience with Portland, Maine area organizations, and has served with the Susan L. Curtis Charitable Foundation for the past 16 years, most recently as Director of Grants and Special Events. Prior to entering the nonprofit sector, Lori worked for Hannaford Bros. for 21 years in Research and Planning as a Senior Financial Analyst and Market Analyst. She earned a BA and MBA from the University of Southern Maine and a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Nonprofit Management from the Muskie School of Public Service/University of Southern Maine. She also is pursuing CFRE certification. Lori and her husband Andy and their family live in Cape Elizabeth.

    Office Associate

    Jessica joined the Susan L Curtis Foundation in April 2013. An avid supporter of camping programs and outdoor education, she has been able to lend her administrative skills to support the organization’s mission. Jessica brings over 15 years experience in administrative support and program coordination in non-profit organizations in Indiana, Ohio and Maine. She has worked in community, peace and justice organizations, and was a founding staff member of the Friends School of Portland. Jessica grew up in the Midwest and graduated with a BA in Peace Studies from Manchester College (Indiana). She lives in Portland with her husband, Chris, two sons, a dog, two cats and chickens. She enjoys camping, singing, reading, swimming, and sharing her love of the outdoors with her sons.
