The Board of Trustees of the Susan L. Curtis Charitable Foundation is an active and vital part of our organization. This dedicated group of volunteers work tirelessly on behalf of the Foundation and the children we serve.

    Our Staff

    Executive Director

    Kathryn joined the Camp Susan Curtis team in 2019. Kathryn has particular expertise in nonprofit strategic planning and capacity building from her past work as a Consultant at TCC Group. Most recently, Kathryn was a Program Officer with the Maine Health Access Foundation, where she developed a deep understanding of the impact that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) have on youth development. Her diverse background includes program design, management, and evaluation of a multi-year grant program focused on expanding access to addiction treatment and recovery support; and service in the Peace Corps as a Rural Community Development Volunteer.
    Kathryn is particularly passionate about the Susan L. Curtis Foundation’s critical role in helping mitigate the impact of ACES by developing youth resilience through supportive, trusting relationships. She is a strong advocate for collaboration as a necessary step toward solving any social sector issue and brings substantial experience in developing strategic partnerships to maximize mission impact.
    Kathryn earned a B.A. at Fordham University and a Masters in Public Administration at the University of Pennsylvania. A Maine native, Kathryn lives with her husband and daughter in Portland and enjoys exploring the city, playing tennis, reading, and traveling.

    Camp Director

    Terri joined the Camp Susan Curtis team in June of 2010 after a long career with the YMCA in Boston, Providence, and Alabama. Raised in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of New York, Terri has always had a love and appreciation of the outdoors and an interest in passing it on to economically disadvantaged youth and families. Terri has a Bachelor of Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University and began her career as a Cabin Counselor and Ropes Course Manager at Camp Hazen YMCA during her college years. As a Senior Program Director and Camp Director with several YMCAs, she has been able to incorporate intentional curriculum, collaborative behavior management, and experiential learning for thousands of campers and their families. Terri is active in the American Camp Association as a Lead Visitor and conference presenter and serves on the Board for Maine Summer Camps. She and her husband, Jay, live in Naples with their rescued pets-shepherd mix Theo, Tasha the Cat, and Mr. T the Gulf Coast Box Turtle. They are halfway through a personal lifetime mission to explore all the National Parks by camping and backpacking through them.

    Development and Communications Associate

    Emily joined the Camp Susan Curtis team in 2021. Emily was raised in the mountains of Western North Carolina. She received a B.A. in Literature and Education from the University of North Carolina Asheville and an M.A. in Literary Criticism and Textual Analysis from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Emily began her career as a development professional at NC State University, supporting major gifts work for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Before joining the Susan L. Curtis Foundation, Emily worked as the Special Assistant to the President & Campaign Coordinator for the University of Southern Maine Foundation. Emily brings a wide range of strategic development knowledge and a passion for creating transformational change for underserved populations through meaningful writing and effective communication.
    Emily lives in Brunswick with her partner, Eric, and their two cats, Fig and Kahlo. In her free time, she enjoys reading, rock climbing, traveling, and pretending she knows how to play the piano.

    Director of Development

    Rose joined the Camp Susan Curtis team in November of 2021. As Development Director, Rose oversees all fundraising and works with community members, board members, and donors to raise awareness and support for Camp Susan Curtis. Rose believes in the power of personal stories and knows that our accomplishments are not meaningful in spite of the tough times, but rather because of them.

    Rose joins us after a career on the frontlines of electoral and advocacy work. Most recently, Rose ran her own small business focused on providing political and fundraising consulting for women running for office. Before starting her business, Rose served as the Director of Campaign Services for Federal and Gubernatorial Campaigns at EMILY's List, the nation’s largest resource for Democratic women candidates. Before joining EMILY’s List, Rose worked as the Fundraising Director on top-tier US Senate campaigns across the country including Michael Bennet in Colorado, Michelle Nunn in Georgia, and Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin. Rose got her start in her home state of Wisconsin organizing for local candidates and nonprofits.

    Rose has also dedicated her time to mentoring and coaching. Rose has developed curriculums and led trainings for many organizations, including: Arena Campaign Academy, Blue Leadership Collaborative, EMILY’s List Run to Win Training, Emerge America, and New Leaders Council. Rose is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, with a B.A. in Political Science and has made Portland, Maine her home.

    Camp Alumni Intern

    Isaac joined the Camp Susan Curtis team in 2021. He has been involved with Camp Susan Curtis since 2010 as a camper, then a camp staff for five years, and now the Camp Alumni Intern. Isaac was born and raised in Lewiston, Maine. He has received an A.S. in Business Administration from Central Maine Community College and is currently pursuing a B.S. in Business Management at the University of Southern Maine. Isaac has first-hand experience in the impact that Camp Susan Curtis has had for Maine children and will be bringing that experience to his position at the Foundation. Isaac is currently living in Westbrook with his partner and roommates. In his spare time, Isaac enjoys playing basketball, exercising, and playing card games.
